This large black ornate mirror delivers a confident focal point wherever you place it. A steady performer in our Wall Mirrors line-up — chosen repeatedly by customers looking for classic decorative detailing in a bold, dark finish.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from a hardwood core overlaid with casting resin, allowing for the crisp ornamental scrollwork you can see at each corner and the fine beaded inner edge that runs the full perimeter. A stepped, swept profile gives the moulding real depth — roughly 6 cm wide and 5 cm deep — while the uniform matt black finish keeps the tone contemporary despite the traditional detailing. The glass is clear and un-bevelled, offering a clean, undistorted reflection that lets the decorative black frame do the talking. A solid wood-based backing board adds rigidity and protects the mirror plate.
Size & Placement
At 137 cm tall and 107 cm wide, this is a generous rectangular wall mirror that works beautifully above a fireplace in landscape orientation or as a striking portrait piece on a hallway or dining-room wall. In our experience, a mirror of this scale is ideal for opening up medium to large rooms — the expansive glass area bounces light effectively without the frame overwhelming the surrounding décor. Hung in portrait, it pairs naturally with a console table or sideboard beneath; in landscape, it sits comfortably above a standard mantelpiece. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall if you prefer a more relaxed, laid-back look — a style we see working particularly well in bedrooms with vintage or antique furnishings.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror arrives fitted with four D-loops on the back of the frame, positioned so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape. Simply align your wall screws with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 10 kg it is manageable for two people to lift into position, and we recommend getting a second pair of hands to hold the mirror level while you mark your fixing points. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; use fixings appropriate for your wall type — heavy-duty anchors for plasterboard, standard plugs and screws for brick or block.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
