This large ornate silver mirror brings a quiet sense of grandeur to any room it enters. A steady performer in our Wall Mirrors line-up — chosen repeatedly by customers looking for vintage-inspired elegance in a generous size.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a warm, lightly burnished silver that sits somewhere between polished chrome and antique silver — bright enough to catch the light, yet soft enough to feel at home in a traditional setting. Each corner carries a scrolling acanthus-leaf motif, while the mid-points of the longer edges feature a smaller central cartouche. Running along the inner lip of the frame you’ll find a continuous beaded moulding that adds a refined layer of texture without overwhelming the design. The frame profile is approximately 6 cm wide, giving the piece visual weight while keeping the emphasis on the generous mirror plate. The glass itself is clear and un-bevelled, providing a clean, undistorted reflection across the full surface.
Size & Placement
At 137 cm tall and 107 cm wide, this is a genuinely large silver wall mirror that makes an immediate impression. Hung in landscape above a sideboard or console table, it works beautifully as an overmantle-style focal point in a living room or dining room — in our experience, a mirror of this width paired with a piece of furniture roughly 120–140 cm wide creates a well-balanced arrangement. Flip it to portrait and it becomes a striking hallway mirror, offering a practical head-to-waist reflection near a front door. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall if you prefer a more relaxed, vintage-large-wall-mirror look in a bedroom or dressing area. Stylistically, the ornate silver frame pairs naturally with antique furniture, soft neutrals, and muted metallics — though it can also work as a decorative counterpoint in a pared-back modern room where a single ornate piece serves as the statement.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror comes fitted with four D-loops on the back of the frame, positioned so you can hang it in either portrait or landscape orientation. Line up your wall screws with the centre of the corresponding D-loops and hang the mirror directly — do not use string, wire, or chain. At 11 kg, this is a manageable weight for most walls, but we recommend having a second person steady the frame while you fix it in place. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate for your wall type — toggle bolts or dedicated plasterboard anchors for stud walls, standard rawl plugs and screws for solid masonry.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
