This black full length standing mirror pairs a tall, slender profile with a deeply moulded ornate frame, creating a piece that feels both elegant and grounded. A recent addition to our Cannington Collection range, it was chosen for its balance of decorative detail and practical everyday use.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from hardwood and casting resin, finished in a smooth matte black that gives the ornamental detailing real depth without the shine. Each corner features a generous carved medallion surrounded by sweeping acanthus-leaf scrollwork, while a beaded inner border runs the full perimeter of the glass. Smaller fleur-de-lis motifs punctuate the mid-point of each long side, adding rhythm to the design. The glass itself is clear and un-bevelled, offering a crisp, undistorted reflection. Overall the aesthetic sits firmly in the antique and vintage tradition — in our experience, a matte black ornate frame like this works particularly well against pale walls, where the tonal contrast lets the carving detail stand out.
Size & Placement
At 168 cm tall and just 46 cm wide, this is a deliberately narrow full length free standing mirror designed to slot into spaces where a broader leaner would overwhelm. It gives you a complete head-to-toe view without demanding a large stretch of wall. The flat base means it can lean securely against a wall at a gentle angle — try it beside a wardrobe in the bedroom, at the end of a landing, or in the corner of a dressing room. Its slim footprint also makes it a practical choice for narrower hallways where you want a large black free standing mirror that doesn’t eat into the walkway. If your décor leans towards vintage or decorative styles, the ornate frame will sit comfortably alongside dark wood furniture, brass hardware, and textured fabrics.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror is supplied with a fold-out back stand, so it is ready to use as a freestanding piece straight out of the box. Simply unfold the stand, position the mirror where you want it, and adjust the lean angle to suit. At 11 kg it is easy enough for one person to move around the room, though a second pair of hands is always helpful when settling it into its final position. If you later decide you would prefer to wall-hang it in portrait orientation, the back stand can be unscrewed and replaced with suitable fixings such as keyhole plates or D-loops — just be sure to fix into a solid wall or locate the studs behind plasterboard to support the weight securely.
