This silver ornate wall mirror pairs classical detailing with a versatile medium size that works in almost any room. Part of our Monksilver Collection range, a collection that sells consistently well with our living room and hallway customers.
Design & Materials
The frame is built from a hardwood core overlaid with cast resin, giving each corner its richly sculpted acanthus-leaf and shell motifs. A delicate beaded trim runs along the inner edge, framing the bevelled mirror glass with a neat line of texture. The silver finish has a soft, lightly brushed quality — not a bright chrome sheen — with subtle warm undertones where the base colour shows through the raised carvings. It is a silver antique wall mirror aesthetic that sits comfortably alongside both contemporary greys and warmer neutral palettes. The glass itself is clear and bevelled, which draws a fine ribbon of light around the reflection and gives the piece a polished, finished feel.
Size & Placement
At 110 cm tall and 79 cm wide, this is a generous mirror without being overpowering. We often suggest this for hanging above a console table or sideboard in a hallway, where the portrait orientation draws the eye upward and makes a narrow space feel taller. Flip it to landscape and it becomes a handsome overmantle piece or a focal point above a sofa. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it on a deep shelf or mantelpiece for a relaxed, layered look. In a bedroom, it is large enough to check an outfit from the waist up when wall-mounted at standing height. If you are drawn to antique decorative wall mirrors but need something that will not dominate a modest wall, the 79 cm width keeps proportions manageable — in our experience, it pairs well with furniture pieces between 90 and 130 cm wide.
Hanging & Installation
This mirror comes fitted with four D-loops on the back — two positioned for portrait hanging and two for landscape — so you choose the orientation that suits your space. At 10 kg it is sturdy but not unmanageable; one person can hang it, though a second pair of hands makes levelling easier. Position your wall screws to align with the centre of the corresponding D-loops, then lift the mirror directly onto them. Do not use string, wire, or chain. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so choose fixings appropriate for your wall type — plasterboard anchors for stud walls, standard plugs and screws for solid masonry.
For a clean, flush-wall finish, we recommend pairing this mirror with our heavy-duty mirror fittings kit — a hook-and-loop back-plate system designed to sit flat against solid frames.
