Built for the garden, equally at home indoors
This black metal garden mirror pairs a tall, narrow arch silhouette with a pared-back steel frame finished in matte black. A recent addition to our Somerton Collection range, it was chosen for its ability to sit just as comfortably against a brick garden wall as it does in a hallway or living room. The indoor-outdoor construction means you can position it where it will do the most good — reflecting greenery, sky, or light back into the space.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel with a smooth, matte black finish that resists the eye-catching but often short-lived shine of glossy coatings. At roughly 2.5 cm wide, the frame profile is deliberately slim — just enough to define the arch shape without competing with the reflection. The glass is clear and unadorned (no bevel), letting the mirror surface run almost edge to edge for maximum reflective area. A plastic sheet backing board seals the rear, and the overall build feels reassuringly solid at 10 kg. In our experience, this kind of minimal black arch mirror sits well alongside both contemporary metal furniture and softer natural materials like timber and wicker.
Size & Placement
Measuring 120 cm high, 40 cm wide and 3.3 cm deep, this is a tall, slender piece — closer to a large wall mirror than a small accent. The narrow 40 cm width makes it easy to fit onto pillar walls, fence posts, or the strip of wall between windows where a wider mirror would not work. Outdoors, mount it on a garden wall or fence to create the illusion of a doorway or window opening into another space — a trick we often suggest for smaller courtyards and patios. Indoors, it works beautifully in a hallway, above a console table, or as a modern alternative to a traditional full-length mirror in a bedroom. The flat bottom edge also means you can lean it against a wall on a shelf or mantelpiece if you prefer not to drill.
Hanging & Installation
Two keyhole fixings are pre-fitted to the back, so hanging is straightforward: simply hook the mirror onto two screws positioned at the correct spacing on your wall. No string, wire, or chain is needed — or recommended. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included, so please use fixings appropriate for your wall type (solid masonry, brick, or plasterboard). At 10 kg the mirror is manageable for one person, but we recommend having a second pair of hands to help you mark the screw positions accurately and lift the mirror into place. If you are mounting onto an exterior wall, stainless-steel or zinc-plated screws will give the best long-term hold against the weather.
