Built for the garden, equally at home indoors
This black arch mirror wall piece pairs a slender steel frame with a classic arched silhouette, creating a look that is pared-back yet distinctive. A recent addition to our Somerton Collection range, it was chosen for its ability to sit comfortably on a garden fence or boundary wall while looking equally refined inside the house.
Design & Materials
The frame is constructed from steel finished in a smooth matte black coating — even in person, the surface reads as a clean, uniform dark tone with a subtle satin sheen rather than a high gloss. At roughly 2.5 cm wide, the frame is intentionally slim: enough to define the arch shape without adding visual bulk. The glass itself is flat and clear, without bevelling, which keeps reflections sharp and undistorted. A plastic sheet backing board seals the rear, and the entire back panel is finished in black for a tidy appearance from any angle. In our experience, this understated metal frame style works well alongside both modern and industrial interiors — think matte-black tap ware, dark shelving, or exposed brickwork.
Size & Placement
At 80 cm tall and 40 cm wide, this is a compact wall mirror with a black metal frame that suits spaces where a larger piece would overwhelm. Hung outdoors on a garden wall or fence, it catches sky and greenery to create the illusion of extra depth — a trick that is especially effective in smaller courtyard or patio areas. Indoors, it sits neatly above a narrow console table in a hallway, over a basin in a cloakroom, or on a landing wall where natural light can be bounced back into the space. Because the base is flat, you also have the option of leaning it on a shelf or mantelpiece for a relaxed, layered look. The 3.3 cm depth keeps the mirror close to the wall, so it won’t protrude awkwardly in tight corridors. Weighing 10 kg, it feels reassuringly solid without being cumbersome.
Hanging & Installation
The mirror comes fitted with two keyhole fixings on the back, so installation is straightforward — simply drive two screws into the wall and hook the mirror over them. Do not use string, wire or chain to hang this mirror. Wall screws and rawl plugs are not included; choose fixings appropriate for your wall type, whether that is masonry, brick, or timber fence. For garden walls, stainless-steel or galvanised screws are a sensible choice to resist weathering. At 10 kg this is comfortably a one-person hang, though a second pair of hands is always helpful for levelling.
